Josh Grisetti, ‘The Marvelous Mrs Maisel’ actor, dead at 44

Josh Grisetti, an actor who starred in the comedy series The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, has died aged 44.

Grisetti was best-known to audiences on TV as the character of Ralph Emerson, who appeared in eight episodes of the fifth and final series of the Amazon Prime Video show, which was released in 2023.

Tragically, the actor died by suicide on July 10th, with the news subsequently being shared by his close friend and fellow Broadway star Rob McClure on July 12th.

McClure wrote on Instagram: “It is with a shattered heart that I share that the brilliant Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday. I’m not ready to even attempt to understand.”

He added, “My heart is with his wife and family as they try to deal with the reality of this. Some of my all-time favorite memories were by this man’s side,” before explaining memories including sharing the stage with Grisetti in various shows and being the Best Man at his wedding.

Aside from his immediate career on stage and screen, Grisetti also served as a prominent educational figure, being the head of the Musical Theatre programme at the California State University, Fullerton.

To this end, McClure continued, “Communities around the world will never be the same without him. We love you Josh. Just a cataclysmic loss. Memorial info to come in time.”

Major actors, including Rachel Zegler and Ariana DeBose, also paid tribute to Grisetti in the comments of McClure’s post, with the latter writing, “My sincerest sympathies. Sending so much love and care to his nearest and dearest.”

On top of his extensive theatre credits, Grisetti also starred in films such as The Immigrant, Revolutionary Road and The Namesake.
