José González shares new video for 'Visions', announces tour

José González surprised us all when he returned earlier this year with the announcement of his first new album in over six years, Local Valley. Now, the Swedish singer-songwriter has premiered a video for ‘Visions’ directed by long time collaborator Mikel Cee Karlsson.

We previously covered ‘Visions’ when it was just an audio release, but now we get to see González, in all his Cat Stevens-esque look and sound, singing directly to us about the cycles of life and accepting the randomness of the world.

Mikel Cee Karlsson is always in tune with the underlying thoughts of the lyrics,” González says about his collaboration with the director. “I like how he used the angle from above to look at our surroundings, both natural and man- made, as the backdrop to the song which is directed to humanity as a whole. I also like the twist of a tool falling from space as a visualisation that we can’t always know what might happen next.”

On top of the new video release, González has also announced a number of European and U.S. tour dates, the latter of which will be shared with Rufus Wainwright. Before those dates begin, the artist will be doing a pair of livestreams that will feature interactive Q&A’s and performances of songs from Local Valley. Those are scheduled for June 10th and September 12th.

“I am very much looking forward to performing for all my fans worldwide again,” González adds. “First with the up and close interactive online event on June 10, and later on with some summer shows and touring once my album is released. I am also especially excited to be able to present the world premiere of my new tour online for all the fans worldwide that won ́t have the chance to catch any of my shows this fall and winter.”

Check out the video for ‘Visions’ down below. Local Valley is set for a September 17th release. See where González will be touring in Europe below the video.
