Watch the trailer for Jordan Peele’s new horror series 'Lovecraft Country'

HBO has released the trailer for Lovecraft Country, the eagerly anticipated new horror series from Jordan Peele.

The show, developed by Misha Green and based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Matt Ruff, sees Peele acting as executive producer alongside J. J. Abrams and Ben Stephenson.

“Based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff of the same name, the series follows Atticus Freeman as he joins up with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across Fifties Jim Crow America in search of his missing father,” HBO said in a synopsis of the series.

“This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.”

The project has been given huge backing with major production companies such as Monkeypaw Productions, Bad Robot Productions, and Warner Bros. Television all involved in the development of Lovecraft Country and has been two years in the making.

Starring the likes of Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Jonathan Majors, Aunjanue Ellis, Abbey Lee, Jada Harris and more, the series is due to premiere on August 16th.

For now though, see the trailer below.
