Jonathan Majors says he’s “shocked” by guilty verdict

Actor Jonathan Majors has spoken publicly for the first time since he was found guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and guilty of a further charge of harassment of Grace Jabbari. Majors, who was also acquitted of two other counts of assault and aggravated harassment, claims to have been “shocked” by the verdicts.

Majors was immediately dropped by Marvel following the delivery of the guilty verdict from a six-person jury on December 18th in New York. Furthermore, in the months leading up to the trial, his talent manager and publicist also severed ties with him.

Additionally, the disgraced actor has lost several other movie roles, including an adaptation of the 2004 Walter Mosley novel The Man in My Basement and an Otis Redding biopic. Furthermore, Disney has removed his upcoming movie, Magazine Dreams, from its release schedule.

Majors is scheduled to be sentenced on February 6th. In a new interview with ABC News, the actor said it has been “very hard” and “confusing in many ways” to come to terms with the guilty verdict.

He told host Linsey Davis: “I’m standing there and the verdict comes down. I say, ‘How is that possible based off the evidence, based off the prosecution’s evidence, let alone our evidence? How is that possible?’”

While reflecting on the moment he was found guilty, Majors said he was left “shocked and afraid”.

The Creed III star also said in the interview: “I’m an athlete. I’m a sportsman. I know my body. I know how it moves. I know my strength, or lack thereof, you know? None of that was employed on her.”

Elsewhere, Majors shared his ambitions to return to Hollywood in the future, stating: “Heck yeah, I do. I pray I do”.

However, he didn’t put a timeframe on his plans to act again, adding: “But it’s God’s plan and God’s timing.”

Responding to his interview with ABC News, Jabbari’s attorney Brittany Henderson, said in a statement: “The timing of these new statements demonstrates a clear lack of remorse for the actions for which he was found guilty and should make the sentencing decisions fairly easy for the court.”
