Johnny Marr, the empirical guitarists who not only formed The Smiths but has also worked with countless other imperative British artists, is back in the news.
It seems now he is lending his skills to actors as well, as he looks to team up with Maxine Peake, as she works on his upcoming album.
The album is likely to involve some spoken-word pieces and will concentrate on “what it feels like to live in the UK right now”, with the album scheduled to come out in mid-2018. The first snippet of this is the latest release ‘The Priest’ which you can see the video of below.
The video was co-directed by Marr himself and stars Molly Windsor and is set in the centre of Manchester. Alongside some stark imagery is Peake’s epic spoken word dissecting homelessness and other social sore-points.
