Joey Ramone estate selling memorabilia to aid Jesse Malin
The estate of the late Ramones co-founder Joey Ramone has announced that it will auction unique memorabilia items in aid of D Generation frontman Jesse Malin.
In May, Malin suffered a very rare spinal stroke while out dining in New York’s East Village with friends. The group had been out commemorating the first death anniversary of D Generation member Howie Pyro. Malin’s stroke sadly left him paralysed from the waist down.
In a show of support for the musician, Joey Ramone’s estate has announced a new partnership with the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. The fund will auction some of the late Ramone’s clothes and other memorabilia generously donated by his brother, Mickey Leigh.
The items up for grabs include Soundgarden and The Who band T-shirts, crewneck sweaters (including a “Mickey Mouse California” sweater in black) and a selection of records and posters. These unique keepsakes will be joined by a more extensive collection of new merchandise.
The auction is open now and can be accessed here via the Charitybuzz website. Donors can also contribute to Malin’s recovery fund or purchase merchandise directly via Sweet Relief.
To accompany the announcement, Malin has released a new video for a re-recorded version of the title track from his 2002 debut solo album, The Fine Art of Self-Destruction.
The reimagined version is subtitled ‘Lonely Process’ and hears the song under a dimmer light, with a softer piano-driven instrumental progression. Watch the new video for Jesse Malin’s ‘The Fine Art of Self-Destruction (Lonely Process)’ below.
