‘Jimmy Neutron’ voice actor Jeff Garcia dead at 50
Jeff Garcia, a voice actor on the animated children’s show Jimmy Neutron, has died aged 50.
His death was announced on Instagram by his son, Jojo Garcia, on December 10th, following a short hospitalisation.
Per USA Today, Garcia suffered a brain aneurysm in the spring after falling and hitting his head. While he recovered, he then had a stroke last month and was also hospitalised in November due to a bout of pneumonia.
Jojo wrote, “With a very heavy heart, I would like to inform everybody that my father, Jeff Garcia, has passed away. My father was a unique soul. He was unapologetically himself and I will always admire the love, compassion, and drive that he had. He taught me so much and gave me advice that I live by every single day.”
Jeff was also a prominent figure in the Los Angeles stand-up scene, a pursuit that he passed on to his son, Jojo, who added, “He was a Father, Son, Uncle, Cousin, Brother, but most of all, he was my best friend. I would call him every day. I would tell him about the plans I had in comedy and my life. He believed in me, in a way that nobody else did. The talent my father possessed was truly one of a kind.”
He continued, “From voice acting to stand up comedy, he shined with his quick wit, brash humor, and charm. He has made such an impact on people’s lives internationally, whether you grew up watching Jimmy Neutron, or shared a laugh with him at one of his shows.”
Jojo went on to describe him as his “hero”, before concluding, “I know you’re in heaven smiling down and you’re in a better place now. No more pain. I’m going to make you proud pops. Fly high, Rocket Man.”
In addition to his role as Sheen Estevez in both Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, his voice work also extended to the hit animated movies Barnyard, Happy Feet, and Rio.
He also appeared in 33 episodes of the sitcom, Mr Box Office, which ran between 2012 and 2013.
Garcia is survived by his two children.
