Jimmy Kimmel slams Trump after emotional return following suspension

It’s back to business for Jimmy Kimmel, who lashed out at President Donald Trump again in his second show back following his ABC suspension.

After returning to the screen on September 23rd, Kimmel walked out on his second night back to thunderous applause. Following a repeated attempt to quiet down the supportive audience, Kimmel kicked off his monologue by referencing the first show back following his 6-day suspension, which has become the show’s most-watched regularly scheduled episode ever with 6.3 million viewers and counting.

Kimmel joked, “A lot of people watched our show last night. I got so many texts from so many people. It made me realize how many of my friends are never watching the show at any other time.”

Kimmel’s late-night show faced a prolonged period of suspension after his comments on Charlie Kirk’s death were not taken well by the network. Among other comments, Kimmel condemned Trump’s personal reaction to Kirk’s death, saying, “This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he calls a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.” ABC labelled his comments “offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse”.

After only a minute of being on air, Kimmel jumped into his ongoing Trump commentary, where he called the President “the mad red hatter.” Specifically, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back,” to which Kimmel replied: “You can’t believe they gave me my job back?’ I can’t believe we gave you your job back. We’re even!” He then went on to provide commentary on other lines from Trump’s post.

When an audience member heckled the host, he replied, “Shut the fuck up. Freedom of speech is only for me.” Kimmel then explained that he talks about Trump “more than anything because he’s a bully.”

He elaborated: “I don’t like bullies. I played the clarinet high school, OK? I just don’t like it. Donald Trump is an old-fashioned ’80s movie-style bully, taking your lunch and money. Rooting for this bully, I don’t care what side you’re on, it’s like rooting for Biff from Back to the Future.

On the night of his return, Kimmel made an emotional confession to his growing audience, insisting, “It was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man.” Trump has since threatened to sue ABC for allowing Kimmel back on the air.,
