Jimmy Kimmel to deliver Channel 4’s ‘Alternative Christmas Message’

Jimmy Kimmel has been confirmed to deliver Channel 4’s ‘Alternative Christmas Message’ on Christmas Day.

Since beginning in 1993, the ‘Alternative Christmas Message’, which rivals The King’s speech, has been given by a vast number of high-profile figures such as the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; whistle-blower Edward Snowden; and Afghan war veteran Major Andrew Stockton.

Kimmel has been in the headlines throughout 2025 due to his ongoing feud with Donald Trump. In September, following comments he made on-air about the reaction to right-wing activist Charlie Kirk’s death, he was briefly suspended from ABC, which Trump celebrated.

When Kimmel was taken off air, Robert De Niro, Tom Hanks, and Jennifer Aniston were among over 400 names in the entertainment industry to have signed an open letter supporting Kimmel as a wider debate on freedom of speech was sparked.

Despite Kimmel returning to the air following public outcry at his suspension and recently signing a contract extension until 2027, Trump has continued to call for ABC to terminate his show. He wrote on Truth Social in November, “Why does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS, on the air?”

His rant continued, “Why do the TV Syndicates put up with it? Also, totally biased coverage. Get the bum off the air!!!”

In his Christmas message, the state of freedom of speech will be addressed by Kimmel as well as his fears about Trump’s second term.

Elsewhere, in his address, Kimmel, who in true English style will deliver his message to the nation sitting beside a cup of tea and a tray of biscuits, will state, “From a fascism perspective, this has been a really great year.”

According to The Guardian, Kimmel will also thank those who stood by him amid his supension with an insider from Channel 4 reportedly saying, “He says the reason that he is back on air is because people spoke out and people protested.”

Kimmel’s ‘Alternative Christmas Message’ is set to air on Channel 4 at 5:45pm on December 25th.
