Jesse Eisenberg and Riley Keough are irrecognisable in ‘Sasquatch Sunset’ trailer
The first trailer for Sasquatch Sunset has been released, depicting Jesse Eisenberg and Riley Keough as mythical beasts.
The absurdist comedy recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and is set to be shown at the Berlin Film Festival before arriving at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Sasquatch Sunset will have a limited cinematic release on April 12th before it’s available to watch in a wider number of locations on April 19th.
The movie, which contains no dialogue, has been directed by David and Nathan Zellner. Eisenberg and Keough are joined by Christophe Zajac-Denek and Nathan Zellner in the main cast. Additionally, the project has been executively produced by Ari Aster.
The synopsis for Sasquatch Sunset reads: “In the misty forests of North America, a family of Sasquatches — possibly the last of their enigmatic kind — embark on an absurdist, epic, hilarious and ultimately poignant journey over the course of one year. These shaggy and noble giants fight for survival as they find themselves on a collision course with the ever-changing world around them.”
Eisenberg previously told IndieWire of the film: “It’s one of the top five greatest scripts I’ve read in my life. It’s so brilliant, a very unusual, most likely impossible to pull off premise, and then fill it with the funniest, sweetest, touching, kind of almost human story. It transcends the fact that these characters are not humans and yet it still feels relatable.”
Meanwhile, Keough told the same publication: “It was an amazing script. It was so funny and like Jesse said, so touching and incredibly well-written and hilarious. I could tell by reading the directions that I would have a similar sensibility as them and I found the same things funny and I think that’s always really exciting. I absolutely responded to it.”
Praising the script, Keough described it as “beautiful” and said she has “never read anything like this in my life”.
