Jeremy Strong could replace Jesse Eisenberg in ‘The Social Network’ sequel

The iconic Facebook film, The Social Network, is unlikely to see Jesse Eisenberg back in the hot seat. Instead, Jeremy Strong is being eyed for the role of Mark Zuckerberg.

David Fincher directed the 2010 epic. It chronicled the rise of Mark Zuckerberg and charted his journey as he created Facebook while studying at Harvard University. Now, with a new idea of the continuation of the story, Aaron Sorkin is back in the fold and is set to take over for Fincher on directing duties.

According to Variety, Strong is the top choice to play the media mogul. The actor’s recent performances have included the hit TV show Succession, 2024’s The Apprentice, and 2019’s The Gentleman. He will also next appear in Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere alongside Jeremy Allen White, who will play the ‘Born in the USA’ singer.

White may also appear next to Strong in this project, as he is also in line for a lead role. Anora’s Mikey Madison may also star. Variety also claim both White and Madison have met with Sorkin, but no offers have been made to either star regarding the movie, which is still in development.

A month ago, it was announced that the sequel via Sony Pictures is in the works. The new movie will be based on The Facebook Files, a series of documents released in 2021 that chronicled the potential dangers that the social media platform has had on the world in recent years.

The Social Network secured eight Academy Award nominations, and Sorkin’s work on the movie won him the Oscar for ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’.
