Jeremy Renner reflects on two-year anniversary of snowplough accident
Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner has looked back on the major health scare he suffered two years ago after an accident with a snowplough machine.
On holiday over the festive period in January 2023, Renner attempted to remove a family member’s car from a blanket of snow. However, he was struck and run over by a snowploughing machine. Renner was air-lifted to the hospital, where he received treatment for blunt chest injuries. Following the accident, Renner was in a critical condition, but eventually made a full recovery.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, Renner focused on his health and took a break from acting. However, last year, he returned to his celebrated role in the Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown and is also set to star in Rian Johnson’s upcoming third Knives Out movie.
Taking to Instagram on January 1st, Renner shared an image of himself from his hospital bed in 2023 alongside the caption, “Happy New Year blessings to you all…. Ringing in my second ‘ReBirthday’ today
I send out my love, respect, and gratitude for the army of people that it took to put me back together again.”
Renner continued: “Thank you to each and every nurse, doctor, first responder… I literally owe you my life. All my heart goes out to my beautiful, brave nephew and the angels (my neighbours) who jumped to my aid and endured the chaos for 45 long minutes on the icy asphalt New Years morning. I’m so sorry all the haunting images I imprinted on you all (I’ll spare you all from the meat grinding images )….”
Renner then thanked his fans for the support they showed him in the aftermath of the accident, noting “the amount of love and prayers that flooded in from you all around the world (needing each and everyone of them)”.
The actor proudly said that he now “stands strong again”, before adding, “More Open. More Loved. More Connected. And fucking BLESSED to take my next step, to take MY NEXT BREATH. Thank you with every fiber and cell in my body. I love you ALL.”
Last year, Renner returned to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon for the first time since the incident and explained how the “wonderful lessons” he’d learned from the setback had changed his life forever.
The Hawkeye star told Fallon: “There’s so many great gifts of being tested to your limits, right? Your physical limits, your spiritual limits, emotional limits. I won’t have a bad day for the rest of my life. It’s impossible. There’s that gift.”
