Jeremy Renner denies misconduct allegations from filmmaker Yi Zhou
Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner has denied allegations made against him by filmmaker Yi Zhou, who accused him of sending unsolicited nude pictures and later threatening to call ICE on her after their relationship broke down.
The filmmaker first shared her story via The Daily Mail. She said that their relationship began when he solicited her with nude pictures via social media earlier this year. Eventually, the two collaborated on Zhou’s documentary Chronicles Of Disney.
According to Zhou, things soured with Renner after he refused to promote the film. Allegedly, when Zhou asked him “(Zhou is also currently producing an AI-animated film, titled Stardust Future, that Renner was reportedly involved in.) “When I called him out privately about his past misconduct and asked him “to behave properly […] he threatened to call immigration/ICE on me, an act that deeply shocked and frightened me.”
On her Instagram, she also shared that she “lived with fear for my safety and deep distress,” adding, “It is with deep regret, sadness, and disappointment that I am compelled to share a truth I have been holding inside for too long.”
She also wrote, “I could detail all the dark secrets of Hollywood and the mistreatment as an Asian female filmmaker in Hollywood.” Zhou went on to detail how Renner has changed his accounts to distance himself from the allegations. However, “luckily, in the digital era, all the metadata is saved and is trackable.”
In another Instagram post, she went on to call her story “a story of survival against domestic aggression, porn abuse and abuse of workplace and Abuse as a woman. I’m sure there will be many other stories who will come forward and I really invite the ones that have not spoken to speak up.”
A representative for the actor issued a denial of the claims per Rolling Stone, calling the claims “totally inaccurate and untrue.” The Marvel actor has not commented on the affair publicly.
