Jehnny Beth announces new album ‘You Heartbreaker, You’

Jehnny Beth has announced details of her forthcoming solo album, You Heartbreaker, You.

The new record is Beth’s first album since To Love is to Live in 2020 and has been half a decade in the making. However, in that time, she also collaborated with Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie on 2021’s Utopian Ashes.

Beth remained busy during that time with acting projects, including a major role in Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall, which was nominated for five Academy Awards. The French artist also starred in David Depesseville’s drama Astrakan.

Now, she’s returned to her first love: making music. In anticipation of the new record, Beth has shared the lead single ‘Broken Rib’, and powerfully sings on the stirring comeback track, “We learn to breathe with a broken rib.”

In a statement, Beth said of the new single, “I knew that if I was going to sing again, it had to start with a scream”.

You Heartbreaker, You, set for release on August 29th through Fiction Records, was created by Beth and her longtime collaborator Johnny Hostile at their 20L07 studio in France. The duo also teamed up for the striking visuals for ‘Broken Rib’.

The former Savages vocalist says of You Heartbreaker, You: “We’re living in a dark time, full of drama and barbarous tragedy. It became clear to me that, in these times, we either learn how to scream really well, or we learn how to whisper.”

While Beth is yet to announce a headline tour in support of the record, she has been confirmed to join Queens of the Stone Age for two shows in Sheffield at the end of August. Beth will also deliver a DJ set at Glastonbury.
