Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker has announced that the debut album from his new project, JARV IS…, has been put on hold until September and has also re-scheduled the tour amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
Beyond the Pale is Cocker’s first full-length release since 2009’s Further Complications and was originally scheduled to be released on May 1st via Rough Trade Records. Now, however, fans will have to wait a little bit longer for material as the record won’t be available until September 4th.
The UK leg of the tour was supposed to kick off at Bristol’s Marble Factory on May 2nd but the show will now take place in late November.
JARV IS… made the announcement in this statement, noting: “It’s a drag to have to make these changes but we’re sure you understand why they’re necessary. We are looking into ways of doing some kind of “virtual performances” in the interim. We miss you!”
The ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease was first officially identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei in China. As of March 25th, more than 428,217 cases of COVID-19 have been officially confirmed but the actual number is thought to be much higher due to substantial under-reporting of cases.
With more than 19,101 people having died from the virus, COVID-19 has now spread into more than 180 other countries—including mainland Europe, South America and North America. Given the exponential growth in cases in countries like Italy, Spain and the UK, the WHO have now stated that Europe was the current centre of the pandemic.
