Jared Leto accused of sexual misconduct by nine women
Actor and musician Jared Leto has been accused by nine women of sexual misconduct, with allegations ranging from predatory behaviour to flirting with minors.
The 53-year-old, who is best known as the frontman of rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars and for his roles in films such as Suicide Squad, Dallas Buyers Club and Requiem For a Dream, has had many allegations against him for his inappropriate actions, with some incidents dating back almost two decades according to Air Mail.
One accuser, who has declined to reveal her name, stated to Air Mail that when she was 16 years old in 2006, she was approached by Leto outside a cafe in Los Angeles while he was accompanied by actor Ashley Olsen, where he allegedly grabbed her arm.
“I looked down and it was Jared Leto,” she told the publication. “We had a quick conversation, and he got my number,” before adding that he began contacting her repeatedly several days later, often turning the conversation in a sexual direction. “I don’t know if he was on drugs or what… it was the weirdest, grossest voice.”
Model Laura La Rue has also come forward with her own allegations against Leto, stating that she had also met him when she was 16 and he was 36, with their encounters often being of an inappropriate nature.
After exchanging contact details, she claimed that Leto would repeatedly visit her house, where he made lewd comments and removed his clothing on one occasion. “He just walked out, dick out, like it was normal … I thought maybe this was just what adult men do,” she told Air Mail.
Leto himself has not yet addressed any of the allegations directly, although a representative for the actor and musician has stated that he “expressly denied” all of the claims against him, adding that they were “demonstrably false”.
