James McAvoy and Tim Roth confirmed to appear at Glasgow Film Festival

Pulp Fiction star Tim Roth and Scottish acting royalty James McAvoy have been confirmed to appear at premieres and events during the upcoming 2025 Glasgow Film Festival.

Roth will attend the opening gala of the festival on February 26th alongside Japanese actors Kōki and Takehiro Hira, as well as director John Maclean, for the world premiere of their new survival thriller Tornado.

Later in the festival’s 12-day programme, X-Men and Filth star McAvoy will be there in person to see a re-run of his classic 2006 movie, The Last King of Scotland, grace the screen, not before sitting down for an ‘In Conversation’ event on March 2nd to discuss his life and career in his home city.

Another star-studded conversation event involves Jessica Lange, the Hollywood legend who will dissect her six-decade career in show business on March 1st. The night before, she will appear on the red carpet alongside acting great Ed Harris for the UK premiere of the new film adaptation of the American play Long Day’s Journey into Night.

Meanwhile, the Scottish stars will be out in force in the form of Line of Duty’s Martin Compston and Braveheart’s James Cosmo who will make an appearance for the premiere episode of the new Amazon Studios thriller drama Fear on February 27th. In addition, Glasgow-born actor James McArdle will be in attendance to see his new rom-com, Four Mothers, make its debut on March 3rd.

The Glasgow Film Festival is now in its 21st year and will run from February 26th until March 9th, 2025. It will take place principally at the Glasgow Film Theatre alongside a host of other arts venues across the city, this year home to no less than 13 world and European premieres as well as 66 UK premieres.
