James Blake announces UK and European tour

James Blake has announced that he will be taking his seventh studio album, Trying Times, on the road in the UK and Europe later this year.

The Grammy-winner will embark on the tour this September and October, kicking things off with a show at O2’s Brixton Academy, which has a capacity of around 5,000.

From there, Blake will travel to Utrecht, Brussels, Paris, Berlin, and Cologne, before hopping back over to the UK for shows in Glasgow, Manchester, and Bristol.

The ‘Death of Love’ singer announced the endeavour on social media, writing, “It was only a matter of time. Excited to announce the Trying Times European tour. Can’t wait to play the new and celebrate the old with you.”

Trying Times was released on March 13th; Blake has since explained that he is more “grounded”, which has allowed him to access more creativity in his life.

He shared recently, “Less anxiety equals more creativity. I think that’s been the myth for a long time, that anxiety and depression are the sources of creativity, and they’re not. If anything, anxiety and depression block that from happening.”

In a glowing four-star review of his latest album, Far Out observed, “Blake may not have fulfilled the prophecy of becoming the ‘future of electronic music’ as we expected, but through a steadfast commitment to becoming a jack of multiple trades, he’s made a record that expertly showcases more sides to his artistry than we’ve ever been privy to before.”
