Jake Bugg has shared a brand new track ‘Saviours Of The City’.
The new song arrives as the first new material from the Nottingham singer-songwriter this year and the first new song since signing a new record deal with RCA.
“I wrote this last year with my mate Robert (ONR),” Bugg said in a statement in regards to his latest effort.
He added: “It’s a song I didn’t envisage releasing this early, but it seems to resonate with what’s going on right now and makes sense of it for me in some ways.”
The new song is set to feature on Bugg’s eagerly anticipated new album, a record which will arrive as the long-awaited follow up to 2017 effort Hearts That Strain’. While the current coronavirus pandemic has delayed its release, it is still expected hat the album will arrive later this year.
“I think I’ve gone into it with a bit more of an open mind and I’ve come out with sounds that are really interesting,” Bugg previously said of the new album. “The results are more on the relevant tip of modern music but still with the traditional elements that I always have. It’s an interesting sound. I’d be interested to see what people think about it when they hear it.”
“To be honest, it’s not much like I’ve heard before and the people I’ve been working with say likewise,” he added of the new direction. “The only element which is perhaps a thread through all of it is Jefferson Airplane. I think that psychedelic element with the modern sound is interesting to try and pursue.”
