Jack White tears through Neil Young cover at ‘SNL50’ show
Jack White took to the stage of the SNL:50 Homecoming Concert last night, performing a cover of Neil Young’s ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’.
Following his cover of Young’s classic, White closed the entire ceremony with his standout hit, ‘Seven Nation Army’. White stopped by New York’s Radio City Music Hall during his No Name Tour, which is set to run until mid-May.
In his performance of Young’s classic protest song, White ripped through a monster solo before transitioning the song into his own seminal hit using some of Young’s own lyrics at the beginning of the song.
It was a popular conclusion to a night that saw Nirvana with Post Malone, Miley Cyrus, Eddie Vedder, Robyn and David Byrne, Fugees, The B-52s and Devo, plus Lady Gaga sang ‘Dick in the Box’.
The SNL:50 Homecoming Concert is the first of two shows designed to celebrate the iconic comedy show’s 50th anniversary. The second, SNL:50 Anniversary, airs on February 16th.
The anniversary show will be a three-hour primetime special, featuring live sketches featuring past and present SNL cast members in action. Multiple musical guests will also appear, including White, Paul McCartney, and Paul Simon.
