A new track has emerged from Jack White’s camp titled ‘Battle Cry’.
Without any prior mention, press or build up of the single, the White Strips front man has leaked out his first solo material since 2014 album ‘Lazaretto’.
The track, which is entirely instrumental barring the sporadic chants of ‘hey’ comes as the 41-year-old is holed up in Nashville, Tennessee recording his second solo record.
The two and a half minute guitar heavy rock track comes amid claims that the tune was specifically written for a new promotional segment for sporting good company Warstic, a company in which White co-owns:
In a recent interview, White discusses the process of recording his new album, explaining how working on a reel-to-reel tape machine that he bought when he was just 14-years-old.
“If I could just break my leg and be in the hospital for six weeks, what would it be like? Something about a room and a cot and a little space. You have nothing to do,” he said.
“I’m going to try to write songs where I can’t be heard by the next-door neighbour,” the 41-year-old added. “And I want to write like Michael Jackson would write — instead of writing parts on the instruments or humming melodies, you think of them. To do everything in my head and to do it in silence and use only one room.”
