Jack Penate returns with a new album and new song ‘Murder’
It’s been over a decade since we last had a full-length record from Jack Penate. 2009’s Everything Is New was widely welcomed as something way off the end of the cool scale. Now he’s back with another record After You and it’s second single ‘Murder’, our Track of the Day.
We’ve been waiting far too long for Jack Penate to return to our airwaves. Arriving in the noughties on the crest of the indie wave, he was widely adored. Which is why it felt so odd that following his 2009 LP he seemingly vanished from our ears. But, let’s not focus on the past, let’s focus on the fact he is back. The new LP After You will arrive on November 29th.
The singer returns with a deeply-groove-laden number. Designed to get you up off your seat and on to the dancefloor the song is built upon Penate’s quality ear as its foundations. And what a fine specimen of a track it is.
A delicate balance between the indie-pop style that pushed Penate into the mainstream but flecked with enough pastel-coloured-cool to make a new generation stand up and take notice. Hopefully, they’re all out in force for his upcoming tour this month, the full dates of which are below.
The track also comes with a spanking new video which has a perma-feature of Penate’s reign at the top of the indie pile, his effortless dance moves. Watch below.
