Iron and Wine collaborates with Fiona Apple on new single ‘All In Good Time’
Folk star Iron & Wine has shared a new track, ‘All In Good Time’, which sees him collaborate with New York singer-songwriter Fiona Apple. The song is taken from the upcoming album Light Verse, the first full-length Iron & Wine record to be released by Sam Beam since 2017’s Beast Epic.
Released via legendary Seattle label Sub Pop, the song sees Beam and Apple take on a classic call-and-response style, evoking country classics by the likes of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. The song is due to be the only collaborative effort on the upcoming album.
Speaking on Apple’s contributions to the song, Beam shared, “Her voice is a miracle that sounds like both a sacrifice and a weapon at the same time.”
Apple is no stranger to collaboration, having previously worked with King Princess, Andrew Bird and Jeff Goldblum among many others. Her last full-length release, 2020’s Fetch the Bolt Cutters, was a triumph, reaffirming the singer’s incredible talent both for songwriting and vocal performance.
Light Verse, due to release next month on April 26th, is a ten-track collection by Beam, which will hope to recreate the success of his Grammy-nominated works Beast Epic and the Weed Garden EP.
In support of the new album, Iron & Wine is set to embark upon an extensive summer tour of North America, before heading to the UK and Europe later this year. The tour will include dates at the London Palladium and Edinburgh’s Queens Hall.
