Iggy Pop stars in the latest Gucci advertisement alongside A$AP Rocky and Tyler, The Creator in which the three of them enjoy a generous helping of spaghetti.
The Harmony Korine-directed video sees the three iconic figures dressed in Gucci tailored suits as they mess around at a west coast home where they eat spaghetti and dance in bathrooms. The video was filmed back in February before the world went into the lockdown and offers a blissful throwback to simpler times which is made even by the delightful soundtracked of Cerrone’s 1977 song ‘Supernature’.
Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele said of the campaign: “A certain type of fun is also portrayed and the idea of how one’s obsession with appearances can create a kind of common ground that can become a sort of brotherhood. It was beautiful to see these three men together, seemingly different but very similar”.
The highlight of the video has to be the show-stealing cameo made by Iggy’s cockatoo, Biggy Pop, which is soon enough going to end up becoming more famous than its owner. Last month, Biggy was named the founding patron of the Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital in Australia.
Biggy’s role as a patron will see him promoting the organisation and act as a campaigner as the Byron hospital seek to build the area’s largest mobile wildlife hospital. Iggy picked up the bird twelve years ago from a roadside seller in a remote part of Florida and since then Biggy has enjoyed the rock star cockatoo lifestyle.
