Idris Elba suggests coronavirus is a result of the Earth being “damaged” by humans

The actor Idris Elba has shared a new update for his fans via a video interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Elba, the star of Luther and The Avengers, tested positive for coronavirus last week and has since been providing updates on his situation via social media while he and his wife Sabrina self-isolated.

As more and more stars fall victim to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, they are using their social media accounts to send messages to their fans. While some offer a small update on their wellbeing, others have seen stars share messages of hope or reflection.

Elba has been using his own social media to share videos relating to his ongoing recovery from the illness. The actor tested positive for the virus last week but has shown no symptoms.

In a new video interview with Oprah Winfrey, the 47-year-old actor has shared another u[date and also suggested that the outbreak is the Earth’s response to being “damaged” by humanity. Saying it was “really obvious” to him that this was the case.

The ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease was first officially identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei in China. As of March 23rd, more than 342,410 cases of COVID-19 have been officially confirmed but the actual number is thought to be much higher due to substantial under-reporting of cases.

With more than 14,762 people having died from the virus, COVID-19 has now spread into more than 180 other countries—including mainland Europe, South America and North America. Given the exponential growth in cases in countries like Italy and Spain, the WHO have stated that Europe is the current centre of the pandemic.
