Iceage have shared their thunderous new single, ‘Vendetta’, and announced the details of their upcoming fifth studio album.

The new single is a sermon delivered by frontman Elias Rønnenfelt who provides an almost spoken-word delivery pleading with the listener over the top of a hypnotic track that blends to drench ‘Vendetta’ in a dystopian universe. It’s been almost three years since the Scandinavian’s released their fourth studio album, Beyondless. After making their welcomed return with ‘The Holding Hand‘ a matter of weeks ago — Iceage have done it once more with their latest effort.

Rønnenfelt warns on the track, “Тhе рlаtеѕ frоm whісh wе еаt frоm, Lіfе іn thе trеnсhеѕ оf а Роnzі ѕсhеmе tо соmе, Сutthrоаt соntrасt јасklеg wіldflоwеr, А nеttlе іn thе nurѕеrу humdrum, Неllbеnt сhаѕіng рареr uроn а mіlе оf rоаd, Вuуеr, ѕеllеr, ѕеllеr, аnd buуеr, Ноw muсh аrе уоu tаkіng fоr hіrе?”

Commenting on the song, the singer said: “Crime is the undercurrent that runs through everything. If you don’t see it, you’re not looking. In its invincible politics, it is the glue that binds it all together. ‘Vendetta’ is an impartial dance along the illicit lines of infraction.”

‘Vendetta’ arrives along with the announcement that their fifth album, Seek Shelter, is released through Mexican Summer on May 7th. The album was recorded across 12-days in Lisbon last year and produced by Sonic Boom, AKA, Spacemen’s 3 founder Pete Kember.

“When we started, I think we were just lashing out, completely blindfolded with no idea as to why and how we were doing anything,” Rønnenfelt added. “For Seek Shelter, we had a definite vision of how we wanted the album to be carved out, yet still the end result came as a surprise in terms of where we sonically were able to push our boundaries.”

The new single also arrives with a video featuring the band and actor Zlatko Burić and the visuals for ‘Vendetta’ directed by Jonas Bang. Take five minutes out and let the wickedly brilliant ‘Vendetta’, absorb you.
