ICE might be present at Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance, Trump advisor claims

According to a top advisor to the Donald Trump administration, federal immigration agents may be present at the Super Bowl, where Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny is set to perform at half-time.

The Department of Homeland advisor Corey Lewandowski shared in a new interview with Benny Johnson’s The Benny Show, “There is nowhere that you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else.”

He continued, “We will find you. We will apprehend you. We will put you in a detention facility, and we will deport you. So know that that is a very real situation under this administration, which is completely contrary to what how it used to be.”

Lewandowski added, “It’s so shameful that they’ve decided to pick somebody who just seems to hate America so much to represent them at the Halftime game.”

A DHS spokesperson appeared to agree with this sentiment in a comment to The Independent, stating, “There is no safe haven for violent criminal illegal aliens in the United States,” when asked if ICE would attend the Super Bowl.

Bad Bunny has been vocal about his experience with ICE before. In June, he hit out at ICE after witnessing what appeared to be a raid in Puerto Rico. The 31-year-old rapper/singer shared a video of Immigration and Customs Enforcement on social media, allegedly taking action on Avenida Pontezuela in Carolina. He called ICE “motherfuckers” and “sons of bitches” in the post.

He also admitted that his extensive touring schedule missed the US entirely because of the possibility of ICE detaining fans at his shows. He shared previously, “But there was the issue of—like, fucking ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

According to The Guardian, there are currently a total of approximately 60,000 people in ICE detention across the US, a majority of them without a criminal record.
