New Hulu series ‘Good American Family’ to explore the peculiar case of Natalia Grace

Ellen Pompeo, the star of Grey’s Anatomy, has lent her voice to the new Hulu television series Good American Family, which explores the haunting true story of Natalia Grace.

The trailer and first look for the series open with Pompeo’s familiar voice providing some narrative as the show, which will look at the real-life story of Grace, is introduced.

“I’ve always considered myself blessed,” she says, “I’ve known I was put on this Earth to build a world where all kids can feel safe.” The series is set to be released on Hulu on March 19th, 2025, and sets a wholesome tone, but as the trailer continues, it becomes clear that things are not as they seem.

The new series will be a dramatisation of Grace’s story. This isn’t the first time that her tale has been told, but it is the first time there has been a dramatisation surrounding the set of events. The previous series that touched upon the story was the documentary series The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, which finished in January.

The drama will follow the Barnett family, who adopted Natalia Grace, who has a rare form of dwarfism which is known as spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita. Grace, who was born in Ukraine, is initially believed to be a child, but then question marks are raised over her age, which causes the story to become incredibly dark.

“This compelling drama is inspired by the disturbing stories surrounding a Midwestern couple who adopts a girl with a rare form of dwarfism,” reads the logline, “But as they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, mystery emerges around her age and background, and they slowly start to suspect she may not be who she says she is.”

The series will be produced by 20th Television and is set to be released on March 19th, 2025. It will be eight episodes long and will be released by Hulu on a weekly basis.
