Hulk Hogan’s cause of death finally revealed
A week after his passing at the age of 71, the cause of death for WWE Hall of Famer and actor Hulk Hogan has been revealed.
Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, died on July 24th at his home in Clearwater, Florida. At the scene of his passing, several police cars and emergency medical technicians arrived at his house to offer medical help. The star was put on a stretcher and into an ambulance.
His family announced his death on social media. They wrote, “It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we confirm we have lost a legend. Our beloved Terry Bollea, known worldwide as Hulk Hogan, passed away today surrounded by his loved ones.”
Now, a week since his passing, Hogan’s cause of death has been revealed. According to a Florida medical examiner’s report released on July 31st, Hogan’s death was deemed to be “natural” and the cause of death was reported as “acute myocardial infarction.” This is a technical term for a heart attack.
Beginning his career in the late ’70s, Hogan spearheaded the company’s success, eventually leading to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Between 2005 and 2007, he starred in a reality show called Hogan Knows Best with his family. The series co-starred his then-wife, Linda and children, Brooke and Nick.
Reportedly, Brooke has since requested her removal from her father’s will. She recently revealed via social media that she “had to step away [from her father] to protect my heart,” after years of constant rifts.
She added, “My husband stayed open, quietly reaching out to my dad without me knowing, trying to find a safe way back in for me. After my father passed, I read those messages, some answered, some ignored… but all of them broke my heart.”
Hogan also had a complicated relationship with WWE. His final appearance in WWE came at the Unuit Dome in January 2025, where the fans in the arena loudly booed him. This was largely due to his support of Donald Trump, made public after he spoke at the Republican National Convention. Footage of him using a racial slur also surfaced in 2015.
Hogan married three times and married his third wife, Sky, in 2023. He is survived by his widow and two children.
