The Velvet Underground are not only one of the most important bands of the whole rock and roll genre, they’re also a vinyl collectors wet dream. Coming out at a time when vinyl was a precious thing the band have always been top of the rarities list.
Now to celebrate their 50th anniversary, drummer Maureen ‘Moe’ Tucker has announced the band will be releasing a huge vinyl box set which will include a host of delicious collectables.
Complete with 6 LPs, it will feature their four studio albums The Velvet Underground and Nico, White Light/White heat, The Velvet Underground and Loaded. It will also feature Nico’s solo record Chelsea Girl and more notably a recreation of the ‘lost’ album 1969 which will also feature two bonus tracks, Then to top it all off it will also feature a 48 page booklet with a foreword from Moe.
This huge offering will be limited to 1000 copies, so vinyl collectors best be quick. It is part of a gigantic anniversary celebration which will also feature a documentary that is currently in work.
