Huge cast list for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ announced
The Devil Wears Prada 2 has made a huge cast announcement, revealing the selection of stars that will join returners Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt.
Disney promised the sequel to the beloved 2006 chick flick over a year ago, eagerly announcing that Streep would step into Miranda Priestly’s Prada shoes again. For the portrayal, she was nominated in the ‘Best Actress’ category at the Academy Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, and Baftas. Streep also won the Golden Globe for the same category.
Now, they’ve announced that a whole host of famous faces will work to ensure the sequel is a success. Charlie’s Angels star Lucy Liu and Bridgerton lead Simone Ashley will star in the new movie.
Murder on the Orient Express actor Kenneth Branagh is reportedly cast as Streep’s ex-husband in the film, while Mulholland Drive actor Justin Theroux will play a potential fun new love interest.
Also joining are BJ Novak, comedian Caleb Hearon and Broadway actress Helen J Shen. Tracie Thoms, who played Andy’s best friend Lily in the original, and Tibor Feldman, who played Elias-Clark chairman Irv Ravitz, have both confirmed their return to the screen.
Recent Conclave star Stanley Tucci returns as Nigel, a much-beloved original character. Most interesting in the mind-blowing list is The Sex Lives of College Girls actor Pauline Chalamet, whose brother is the huge A Complete Unknown star Timothée Chalamet.
The new plot is expected to feature Meryl Streep’s perspective as the fierce editor-in-chief faces the print industry’s decline. Aline Bros McKenna will return to pen the screenplay for the sequel, too.
The sequel will tap into a cinematic goldmine. The original film was a huge box-office smash. It earned $326.7million worldwide, as well as gaining the cast plenty of critical praise and awards accolades. Despite Hathaway’s comment in early 2024 that she “wouldn’t hold out too much hope” for a sequel, it is well underway now.
