Howard Stern delays announcement on future of ‘The Howard Stern Show’
Howard Stern has delayed making an announcement regarding the future of The Howard Stern Show until next week.
On the programme’s social media accounts, they shared, “Howard Stern will now speak Monday, September 8.” They also informed listeners to “stay tuned” for further updates.
It comes after last week, ahead of the return of The Howard Stern Show following the summer break, they shared a trailer for the upcoming season, which poked fun at the speculation over his rumoured exit from the programme.
“The tabloids have spoken: Howard Stern fired, cancelled, is it really ‘Bye-Bye Booey’? Chaos is swirling at The Howard Stern Show,” a narrator can be heard saying in the promotional video.
They continued: “Did staffers talk to the press? Are writers withholding their best jokes? Nobody knows what’s going on or who to trust.”
“Now we can reveal all the questions will be answered, all the truths will be told by the one man truly on the inside,” they promised, before stating that everything would be revealed on September 2nd, which has now been pushed back to September 8th.
Last month, the Daily Mail claimed Stern is considering his options, with a source telling the publication, “He may do a 1-2 year contract if they can meet him where he wants financially. He doesn’t want to pull the plug on his employees like this.”
Meanwhile, another source told the same outlet that Stern is evaluating whether to leave the station, and may leave broadcasting behind, “He is off in the summer but this year has been saying ‘maybe I should retire’”.
Additionally, The Sun published a report that claimed that Stern’s time on SiriusXM, a station he has been involved with since 2006, was likely reaching its conclusion upon the expiry of his current contract.
