Not so fast: Hollywood Vampires, Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper’s supergroup, sued by promoter over foiled European gig

Hollywood Vampires, the supergroup featuring Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, Joe Perry, and Tommy Henriksen, are being sued by a concert promoter for missing a concert in Slovakia.

The band, who are due to play a series of outdoor shows in the UK and Europe this summer, have been named in a federal court filing in Texas.

The court case relates to a cancelled show in July 2023, which was to be held at the Olympic Fields in Slovakia. As per TMZ, because of this, the band’s lawyers are asking for the case to be dismissed, as it shouldn’t be heard in Texas.

The case is being brought about as the promoter claims that he paid the Hollywood Vampires an advance of $277,000 for the show and has allegedly asked for the money to be returned, with no response.

Back in 2023, the Hollywood Vampires pulled out of the show abruptly and on the day. At the time, they shared on social media, “Upon arrival today to the venue in Slovakia to begin set up for tonight’s performance, it quickly became clear that the construction of the facility was incomplete, and therefore unsafe for both the band and the general public.”

The musical group went on, “The band is very upset by this recent and unfortunate turn of events, and hope to return when schedules permit.”

Additionally, the promoter has suggested in the case that the band missed the show due to “personal reasons unrelated to the venue.” In the legal documents, the concert promoter points to Depp’s alleged hospitalisation at the time for an “unknown medical issue”.

As well as the huge monetary blow, the concert promoter has complained that their cancellation caused him to lose “money and [look] unreliable in the industry”.

The supergroup, formed in 2015, is set to return to Europe for a series of shows this summer, marking their first shows on the stage in three years.
