Harrison Ford’s forgotten ‘Star Wars’ script sold at auction
While filming Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, Harrison Ford accidentally left a copy of the script in a London flat he rented which has now been sold at auction for thousands of pounds.
Excalibur Auctions put the script up for sale on February 18th, with a description that shared its origin. “This item came from the home of a family in which Harrison Ford stayed during the filming of Star Wars throughout 1976 and is likely his own copy that was left behind along with other items,” they wrote.
The script was the fourth of five drafts that A New Hope received, providing “an interesting insight into the making of one of the most important blockbuster movies ever made including scenes and characters that were cut from the final edit.”
According to the vendor, who had no idea who the actor or his co-stars were, Ford was a “very tidy” lodger. He would accompany them for drinks in the garden and made an appearance at their son’s birthday party.
After some competitive bidding, the script was sold to an unnamed Austrian collector for £10,795, a sale auctioneer Jonathan Totode suggested set a new record for a “Star Walker script, which shows how a personal link to the items is so enticing to Star Wars fans.”
Following the conclusion of the sequel trilogy five years ago with the release of The Rise of Skywalker, Star Wars is set to return with Sharmee Obaid-Chinoy at the helm. Daisy Ridley will also reprise her role as Rey, despite finding fan reactions to the last films upsetting.
