The first trailer for Greta Gerwig’s new film 'Little Women' has arrived

The timing of Greta Gerwig’s latest film release clearly has one eye on the Oscars as the trailer for Little Women reveals its star-studded cast.

The coming-of-age period drama written and directed by Gerwig includes the likes of Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Timothée Chalamet, Laura Dern and Meryl Streep as they attempt to successfully adapt Louisa May Alcott’s novel of the same name.

Gerwig’s effort marks the eighth time in history a filmmaker has attempted to put their own unique spin on Alcott’s 1868 novel which explores the lives of the March sisters who are living in the aftermath of the American Civil War.

With little information about the direction Gerwig’s film will take, a producer previously let slip that the intentions of the project is to focus directly on the lives of  Meg, Jo, and Amy who seek to leave their family home—a concept that is seemingly confirmed by the new trailer.

With a Christmas cinema date being penned in, enjoy the trailer below:
