The Californian sister act, Haim, took the stage at this year’s Grammy’s to perform their track ‘The Steps’ which was nominated for Best Rock Performance in a category that refreshingly comprised entirely of women, with Fiona Apple, Big Thief, Brittany Howard, Phoebe Bridgers, and Grace Potter also nominated.
The sisters, Danielle, Este, and Alana Haim were also nominated for album of the year with Women in Music Pt. III, which lost out to Taylor Swift for Folklore, whilst Best Rock Performance went to Fiona Apple for ‘Shameika’.
The band may well have left the award ceremony empty-handed but that did not stop them from putting on an energetic show that defied the intimate setting.
The performance saw the group face each other and largely turn their back on the star-studded audience in attendance in a move akin to Seventies bands of old.
Taylor Swift who pipped them to the best album prize was full of praise for Haim, having worked with them for a track on the deluxe release of Women in Music Pt. III earlier this year, after which she declared herself the fourth Haim sister on Instagram.
