French art-rockers Good Morning TV have shared their first piece of new music since their debut EP in 2016 in the form of ‘Insomniac’ and it’s a welcome return.
The group’s debut EP led to the band getting noticed not just in their homeland, but across Europe and the world but rather than jump into releasing a full-length record straight away, Good Morning TV have been making fans wait patiently. It has now been confirmed that a record is finally on its way and the band will be releasing their debut effort Small Talk in early 2021 on Géographie which is also home to artists like Marble Arch, Paper Tapes, and Born Idiot.
Good Morning TV tell Far Out that “‘Insomniac’ represents what we like in and what we hope for our music. An unexpected accident that turned out to be a sweet imperfect and fragile reflection of our time together.”
There’s a subtle beauty to the work that is crafted by singer Bérénice Deloire who writes and composes all the songs. ‘Insomniac’ sees her use synth-effects to her advantage which juxtaposes perfectly with her voice and creates this dream-pop extravaganza which is reminiscent of Tame Impala as it builds to a euphoric crescendo that Kevin Parker would be approving of.
‘Insomniac’ also features as the latest episode of Far Out Magazine’s new Facebook series ‘Emerging Sounds’, a project which shines a light on some of the best new music that’s simmering under the radar right now.
