The actress Lisa Banes has tragically passed away at the age of 65. Her death has confirmed on Monday following a hit and run incident with a scooter in New York City earlier this month.
New York Police Department officially informed CNN of the news yesterday evening after Banes had initially been hospitalised immediately following the incident on June 4th.
Banes’ manager, David Williams, released a statement announcing: “We are heartsick over Lisa’s tragic and senseless passing. She was a woman of great spirit, kindness and generosity and dedicated to her work, whether on stage or in front of a camera and even more so to her wife, family and friends. We were blessed to have had her in our lives.”
It is reported that Banes suffered severe head trauma after she was struck by a scooter that ran a red light in New York’s Manhattan Upper West area. The police have officially stated, “The scooter then fled the location, continuing north bound. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.”
Banes, who is perhaps best known for her role in Gone Girl, has continually starred in a slew of TV, film and stage performances since beginning her acting career in the early 1980s. As well as Gone Girl, she also notably starred in Cocktail, and the celebrated TV series Nashville and Masters of Sex.
She is survived not only by her body of work, renowned for typically classy and controlled performances but also by her wife Kathryn Kranhold who led tributes by posting a series of photographs on social media.
Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
