Glastonbury 2025: The Maccabees bring Florence Welch on stage for ‘Dog Days Are Over’
Almost a decade on from their farewell, The Maccabees returned to Glastonbury Festival for a blistering set on the Park Stage.
The group tore through a set littered with hits that left most in the crowd wondering why they had taken a break for such a long time, having been away from making music as a unit for a decade. A performance that will give their audience a heap of memories to take with them.
Opening with ‘Latchmere’ before moving into hits like ‘X-Ray Vision’, ‘Precious Time’, and ‘Marks To Prove It’, a seismic moment would arise as the group re-emerged to finish off their performance.
As the band moved into their encore, they welcomed Florence Welch to the stage to join in on ‘Love You Better’ before diving into a rendition of Welch’s festival banger ‘Dog Days Are Over’, providing a Glastonbury moment this crowd won’t forget.
Welch, barefoot, led the crowd through a blistering rendition of her biggest hit. She thanked the audience, who were wildly clapping along, for welcoming her before describing herself as a Maccabees superfan. A dazzling performance ensued with the entire crowd swirling and bouncing in unison.
The Maccabees, clearly emotional and grateful for their opportunity to play their tunes once more for a Glastonbury crowd left with ‘The Pelican’ and the overarching message of the festival; solidarity with Palestine: “Before we leave, we just want to say that we’re thinking of the people in Palestine and we know you are as well.”
Closing out the set to rapturous applause, the band left the stage ready to tour again.
