Glastonbury 2024: Hollywood A-listers announced to appear at Pilton Palais
Glastonbury has announced the programme for this year’s Pilton Palais Cinema, which includes pre-release screenings, music documentaries, and Q&A sessions with guest actors and directors.
The film tent will play host to a number of A-listers over the festival weekend, including Andrew Scott. The Irish actor is set to take part in two Q&A sessions as part of the programme, regarding his one-man theatre adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Vanya and last year’s romance All of Us Strangers. For the latter, he will be joined by co-star Paul Mescal and director Andrew Haigh.
Beloved British director Edgar Wright will also make two appearances in the film tent. The filmmaker will be there to speak about his 2017 film Baby Driver in a Q&A session, but he will also introduce a screening of his 2004 cult comedy Shaun of the Dead alongside star Simon Pegg. This year marks the film’s 20th anniversary.
Following the mammoth success of the sci-fi sequel earlier this year, Florence Pugh will be answering questions about her role as Princess Irulan in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two.
A screening of Jim Jarmusch’s 2013 film Only Lovers Left Alive will be accompanied by an appearance from star Tilda Swinton. She will also introduce Julio Torres’ Problemista, which she starred in last year.
Unicorns, Sally El Hosaini and James Krishna Floyd’s directorial collaboration from last year, will also appear on the programme. The directors will be there to chat about the film, alongside stars Jason Patel and Ben Hardy, who previously starred in Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.
A number of music-focused films will also receive screenings at the Palais Cinema, including Todd Haynes’ take on Bob Dylan, I’m Not There. Cate Blanchett, who starred as one iteration of the folk legend, will be at the festival for a Q&A.
Several music documentaries will also be screening at the festival, including Eno, Gary Hustwit’s generative AI film about ambient pioneer Brian Eno. The director will be there to chat about the movie, which changes every time it is screened.
A screening of Portishead’s 1998 performance at the Roseland Ballroom in New York will also appear in the programme, with guitarist Adrian Utley set to take part in a Q&A session.
Glastonbury will take place between June 26th and June 30th this year, with Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA and Shania Twain set to headline the historic festival. Find the full Pilton Palais programme highlights below.
