Glastonbury 2024: Greenpeace reveal line-up, including special guest speaker

Since forming a partnership with Glastonbury Festival in 1992, Greenpeace has become an integral part of the event, and with less than three weeks to go, it has now unveiled full details of its programme for 2024.

The environmental organisation will welcome a series of notable musicians, speakers and even yoga to the Greenpeace field across the event, which is set to open its gates on June 26th. While household names such as Coldplay and Dua Lipa will be taking to the Pyramid Stage to perform, areas such as the Greenpeace Stage embody the spirit of the festival.

Across the weekend, Greenpeace will welcome artists such as Nabihah Iqbal, Willie J Healey, Lambrini Girls, Lynks, Jayda G, Porij, Erol Alkan, Prospa, Liz Lawrence, Confidence Man, DJ Boring, Songer and many more to their field.

Furthermore, Greenpeace are welcoming primatologist and anthropologist Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, who will be delivering a speech on June 28th as part of the Greenpeace Call for Action. Goodall is a UN Messenger for Peace, who recently celebrated her 90th birthday.

In a statement, Greenpeace explained how the message behind this year’s campaign is “focusing on three central pillars for effective climate action: PROTEST, ACTIVISM, and notably – and perhaps most importantly – VOTING. Greenpeace is uniting the British public to push the next government – whoever it is – to take climate change seriously.”

They also noted they want to “remind” those attending the festival about the importance of “collective power of individuals”, noting, “Change is only achievable through collaboration, and the most impactful action you can take for the climate is to vote.”

While they haven’t aligned with a specific political party, Greenpeace has launched Project Climate Vote, asking those attending the event to consider the need to care for the climate. They say this is “a vital way to force all political parties to massively up their game.”

The upcoming general election is set to take place across the United Kingdom on July 5th, less than a week following the conclusion of Glastonbury, and it will likely be a prominent topic of conversation at the event.

Meanwhile, Eavis recently picked Kate Bush as her ultimate dream headliner for Glastonbury. During a new appearance on the BBC Sounds podcast, Sidetracked with Annie and Nick, Eavis told hosts Annie Macmanus and Nick Grimshaw when asked the question, “Do you know who I would like to get who haven’t had… Is Kate Bush. I’d love to have her.”

“I’ve put it out there that I’d love to have her. I hope one day,” Eavis added, before stating that Elton John was also a “pipe dream” for many years before he finally appeared on the Pyramid Stage in 2023.

Glastonbury Festival is set to run from June 26th until June 30th and Far Out will be on the ground at Worthy Farm to provide coverage directly from the event. This year’s event will be headlined by Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA.
