Glastonbury 2024: Festival issues warning to attendees

Ahead of Glastonbury Festival getting underway later this month, the event has issued a warning to attendees regarding the environmental impact of their environmental footprint.

Glastonbury has always prided itself on being a green festival, whether this is through supporting environmentally friendly ways for those to arrive at the event through to its use of compost and methods implemented to reduce water waste.

However, despite the best efforts of those running the festival, they can’t control what everyone on-site will do once they arrive at Glastonbury. Now, with just over two weeks to go before people start their pilgrimage to Pilton, organisers have issued a reminder to attendees.

Importantly, they have told those plotting to attend to bring equipment that is able to survive potentially serious weather conditions, stating, “If you are coming to [Glastonbury Festival 2024], please remember to only bring sturdy camping equipment that you can take home again and reuse.”

In recent years, those attending the event have improved their behaviour with Glastonbury stating, “In 2023, 98 per cent of all tents were taken home. Let’s see if we can beat that this year!”

They concluded the message by writing, “Love the farm, leave no trace. Thank you.”

Meanwhile, the weather forecast for late June at Somerset’s most famous farm is looking safe, at this stage. While it’s too early to give a detailed picture of the weather for June 26th to 30th, the week of the festival itself, current predictions suggest that it’s going to be consistently mild.

The temperature should hover between daily highs of 16 and 21 degrees, with short, scattered showers but a healthy dose of daily sunshine.

Additionally, organiser Emily Eavis recently picked Kate Bush as her ultimate dream headliner for Glastonbury. During a new appearance on the BBC Sounds podcast, Sidetracked with Annie and Nick, Eavis told hosts Annie Macmanus and Nick Grimshaw when asked the question, “Do you know who I would like to get who haven’t had… Is Kate Bush. I’d love to have her.”

“I’ve put it out there that I’d love to have her. I hope one day,” Eavis added, before stating that Elton John was also a “pipe dream” for many years before he finally appeared on the Pyramid Stage in 2023.

Glastonbury Festival is set to run from June 26th until June 30th and Far Out will be on the ground at Worthy Farm to provide coverage directly from Pilton. This year’s event will be headlined by Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA.
