Ghostpoet explores London life in 'Off Peak Dreams'

London-based rapper Ghostpoet has returned with a new single and the news that he will release his third album Shedding Skin this March.

‘Off Peak Dreams’ is the first track to have been unveiled from the record and showcases Ghostpoet’s trademark though-provoking lyricism backed by a piano loop and organic-sounding beat that get better with every listen.

Like a sort of downbeat version of the grime movement that took over London town over a decade or so ago, Ghostpoet is an artist who expertly documents the life and consciousnesses of the everyday man in a way that few other can articulate.

The video for Shedding Skin is very much in keeping with this, offering a DIY, one-shot account of a working day in the capital.

The 2011 Mercury Prize nominee burst onto the scene with his debut Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam, which saw him gain support slots with the likes of Metronomy and Jamie Woon, and perform at the bash – eventually won by PJ Harvey’s Let England Shake.

Those wishing to catch Ghostpoet live this month can see him testing out new material in London at Village Underground as part of PIAS Nights (also featuring Fat White Family and Balthazar) on January 26th.

He will then play headline shows at Chat’s Palace (January 28th) and Gullivers in Manchester (January 29th), before embarking on the following tour this April. Tickets go on general sale tomorrow:
