Ghostpoet announces new LP and unveils ‘Trouble + Me’
Far Out’s August just got a whole lot better with the news that one of our favourite artists will treat us to a highly-anticipated new record.
Obaro Ejimiwe aka Ghostpoet has announced that he will release his fourth album Dark Days + Canapés on August 18th via Play It Again Sam (PIAS).
If the wait has already got you drowning in suspense then fear not, as he has also unveiled ‘Trouble + Me’, the second track to be premiered from the LP, following ‘Immigrant Boogie’, which landed last month.
Listen to the new single ‘Trouble + Me’ below.
The track continues down the same experimental path that was found on Ghostpoet’s last album Shedding Skin, which saw Ejimiwe veer away from the beat-infused production on his first two records, instead favouring a towards more woozy, distorted guitars.
Ghostpoet explains: “Serendipity and experimentalism were embraced in the studio and several original ideas evolved or were supplanted by something unexpected. There’s a sort of life-force that the other musicians brought to this record, and that was crucial. I want people to listen to the songs and be able to say, ‘So it isn’t just me then? Phew.’”
In addition there’s a full tour of UK and Ireland scheduled, beginning in Dublin at The Button Factory on October 24th, right through to Bristol’s Marble Factory on November 14th.
