Geoff Barrow shares trailer for debut film, ‘Game’, starring Sleaford Mods’ Jason Williamson

Portishead’s Geoff Barrow has released the trailer for his debut feature film Game, starring Sleaford Mods’ Jason Williamson.

“I watched someone die before. Takes a while sometimes,” the opening remark shares over a screen plunged in and out of darkness. The trailer then displays splices of mud, insects, death, life, struggle, combat, and pain all atop an eerie folksong.

The official synopsis reads, “Late summer 1993. After stealing a stash of money and drugs, aging raver David (Marc Bessant) crashes his car deep in the woods – trapped in the wreckage, injured and helpless, he hangs suspended between life and death. When a mysterious poacher (Jason Williamson) discovers him, no rescue comes, only a watchful, unsettling presence that seems intent on letting nature finish the job.”

Something remarkable happens while the old-school raver is trapped in a vehicle. The synopsis then shares, “As the hours stretch and the elements close in, a tense and claustrophobic battle of wills, and wits, unfolds – where survival hinges on outlasting both the wilderness and the predator at its edge.”

The film promises a harrowing ride into the depths of suffering and despair. Barrow has also announced that he has another two films in development alongside the upcoming release.

In a statement about the film, the Portishead musician remarked, “John and I have worked together for over 20 years on music projects (Portishead and Invada music videos) and have always talked about making a feature together, the same goes for Marc who I’ve worked closely with for many years. I’ve been a fan of Jason Williamson’s work, same with Rob [Williams], through 2000AD, and we’ve been writing film ideas together for the last few years.”

Game will arrive in cinemas on November 21st, after a screening at the Mayhem Film Festival in Nottingham in October.
