Gengahr have long been on our favourite’s list. The band have an effortless swag and song-crafting subtlety which has always been alluring. With their recent album Where Wildness Grows only just out, the newest track from them, ‘Atlas Please’ is another step toward stardom, as they move up a gear.
Our Track of the Day today, the new song is a slick and superbly produced cut, which moves the band firmly away from their more raucous alter-ego and instead fall firmly on their indie-darling-shaped-sword. Slinky and sultry ‘Atlas Please’ has all the ringing charm of a Gengahr special but does so with a new glinting smile attached. It’s a smile that gleams confidence.
It’s easy to see why with Bombay Bicycle Club/Mr Jukes’ Jack Steadman at the helm behind the mixing desk, Gengahr are stretching their legs and have added some of their hookiest work alongside a brand new synth lead line.
The new track is this movement in motion. A track which is always progressing is taking Gengahr into the future with a simple and effective sound. It is controlled, polished and is still somehow sounding effortless.
