Gene Hackman death: Betsy Arakawa was fearful of stalker, close friend reveals in bodycam footage

The hairstylist of Betsy Arakawa, Gene Hackman’s late wife, has revealed in newly released bodycam footage that Arakawa was fearful of a stalker in the months before her death.

According to a man named Christopher, the stylist of Hackman’s wife, the couple reportedly had two unusual interactions in December with the same unknown man who Arakawa had never seen before which left her “frazzled”.

“She mentioned to me that there was a man that had parked outside of their gate and followed them,” Christopher, told law enforcement in a video obtained by Fox News.

Christopher then delved into detail about the first instance, explaining, “On two separate occasions. One occasion is when they went to White Rock. They went and had lunch there and the guy followed them from parked [outside of their gated community], followed them all the way to White Rock.”

Arakawa’s hairstylist continued: “She said, ‘Christopher, I’m surprised that security didn’t [know] how he got there… because when we left, I noticed that this car had followed us from the residence to White Rock.'”

He also stated that Arakawa revealed to him that the stranger “pulled out a folder of photos of her husband and wanted him to sign them” which she refused to do so. “She said… she approached him and said, ‘I told him he needed to have more respect,'” Christopher told law enforcement.

The other instance also occurred in December when the same man allegedly followed Hackman and Arakawa to another location before offering them a bottle of wine which they declined.

Christopher recalled: “I said, ‘Oh my gosh, Betsy, that’s crazy. You should not have approached this person. This makes me nervous. He knew what [they] drove. That’s the scary part.”

Due to the sensitive and high-profile nature of this investigation, a judge on March 17th granted a temporary restraining order to block the release of autopsy reports, images, and police bodycam footage which shows the two bodies.
