Gavin & Stacey, the British sitcom written by James Corden and Ruth Jones, will return for a one of Christmas special.
The show, which follows the romance between Gavin, from Billericay in Essex, and Stacey, from Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, tells the tale of two differing merging over their love.
The sitcom ran for three series and included 20 episodes and one Christmas special. The show became a hit for the BBC, wining several television and comedy awards as Corden made his major breakthrough as a comedy writer.
Now, Corden and Jones have released a statement confirming its one-off return: “Over the last ten years we’ve talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey – where they might be today and what their lives might look like,” they said. “And so in secret we took the plunge and wrote this one hour special. We’ve loved revisiting Barry and Essex again and bringing the characters back together has been a joy.
“We’re so excited to get the chance to work with our fabulous cast and crew once more and to give fans of the show a festive treat this Christmas. Thank you BBC for helping to make this happen.”
