‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ actor Floyd Roger Myers Jr dead at 42
Floyd Roger Myers Jr., the former child actor who starred in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, has passed away at the age of 42.
Myers died from a heart attack on the morning of October 29th, his mother, Renee Trice, shared with TMZ. He was in his home in Maryland when it happened. This came after the star had already survived three heart attacks in the last three years.
After his onscreen debut as Young Will in a 1992 episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Myers went on to play Marlon Jackson that same year in the ABC limited series The Jacksons: An American Dream. He starred alongside Angela Bassett, Vanessa Williams, and Billy Dee Williams. The show chronicled the rise of the Jackson family across five decades.
He last appeared on screen in 2000, in an episode of The WB’s teen soap Young Americans. However, the show, which was a summer-time spin-off of Dawson’s Creek, was cancelled after its initial eight-episode run.
Two years ago, Myers revealed online that he had been in a coma, writing, “Just a week ago I was in a coma fighting for my life! The way my GOD work though. I’m beyond blessed and grateful to be alive!”
Since leaving child acting behind, Myers went on to co-found the non-profit Fellowship Men’s Group, which focused on bettering men’s mental health. The organisation paid tribute to him on the day of his passing.
They wrote, “RIP to our good brother, one of our co founders. Gone but never will be forgotten. The mission will continue in your honor. Next mens meeting will be one for the books like we talked about! Love you bro, rest easy, big bro will take it from here.”
Mysters sister paid tribute to him online, writing, “He was a devoted father, loving brother, and friend whose kindness, laughter, and warmth touched everyone he met.” He leaves behind four young children, named Taelyn, Kinsley, Tyler, and Knox.
