Freddie Mercury’s alleged daughter claims he’d have been “appalled” by ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’
A woman who claims to be Freddie Mercury‘s secret daughter has stated that the late Queen singer would have been “appalled” by his biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody.
A few months ago, author Lesley-Anne Jones announced her book Love, Freddie: Freddie Mercury’s Secret Life and Love, which contains the claim that the iconic rock vocalist became a father after he had an affair with the wife of a close friend in 1976.
While the book isn’t set for release until September, the woman, who the book states is Mercury’s daughter, spoke publicly for the first time earlier this month. She is a 48-year-old woman who works as a medical professional and has chosen to remain anonymous. It is also alleged that they had a close relationship until his death, and he gave her 17 journals.
Now, in a new interview with The Sun, the alleged daughter of Mercury discussed his biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, starring Rami Malek, and said that it is “a movie that is full of fabrication”.
She added: “Freddie would have been appalled by the movie. It would have made his hair stand on end. This film presents a version of him so far removed from the truth.”
Her latest comments come after Mercury’s best friend, Mary Austin, refuted claims that he had a daughter, stating, “Freddie had a glorious openness, and I cannot imagine he would have wanted to, or been able to, keep such a joyful event a secret, either from me or other people closest to him.”
Austin added: “The truth is that I am simply not the guardian of such a secret. I’ve never known of any child, or of any diaries. If Freddie had indeed had a child without me knowing anything about it, that would be astonishing to me.”
In response to Austin’s comments, the anonymous woman is quoted by The Sun as saying, “For 34 years, the truth of Freddie’s life has been distorted, twisted and rewritten, but she said nothing — with the exception of her comment about the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, which she called ‘artistic licence.”
Furthermore, the validity of the anonymous women’s claims has also been doubted by Brian May’s wife, Anita Dobson, who labelled it as “fake news”.
